Garlic Bread

Description

Delicious and easy garlic bread recipe perfect for any meal!


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 loaf French bread (see note #1)
  • 4 cloves garlic (more as needed)
  • 1/2 cup softened unsalted butter (see note #2)
  • 1/2 teaspoon dry oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
  • freshly chopped parsley and red pepper flakes (for garnishing, optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375F. Slice the bread into 1-inch thick slices, aiming for 10 pieces. I don’t use the heels.
  2. Using a Microplane (zester) or the smallest holes on a box grater, grate the garlic cloves into a paste. Measure out 1 teaspoon. The garlic can be very finely minced if you don’t have a zester.
  3. Stir the softened butter together with 1 teaspoon of garlic paste, oregano, and salt. I find that this is easiest to do with a small spatula.
  4. Use a spoon or knife to spread each side of the bread slices with a layer of garlic butter. Place the buttered bread evenly on a sheet pan.
  5. Bake at 375F for 10 minutes, or until the side touching the pan is golden.
  6. Flip the bread and continue toasting until the side touching the pan is golden, about 3-5 minutes.
  7. Remove from the oven and garnish with freshly chopped parsley and red pepper flakes. Enjoy!

Notes

  • Note #1: You can use any type of bread, but French bread gives the best texture.
  • Note #2: Make sure the butter is softened for easy mixing.
