Description

Delicious air fryer tilapia tacos with a creamy cilantro lime sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound tilapia filets
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon ground chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • Cooking spray (if using air fryer)
  • 10 ounces angel hair coleslaw
  • 3 limes
  • 1 cup loosely packed fresh cilantro
  • 1 tablespoon coarsely chopped jalapeño (seeded)
  • 1/2 cup mayo (full-fat)
  • 1/2 cup sour cream (low-fat works great)

Instructions

  1. Make the sauce: Zest and juice 3 limes to get 1 teaspoon zest and 1/4 cup juice. Add juice and zest to a blender or mini food processor along with cilantro, jalapeño, and mayo. Add salt and pepper to taste, then blend until smooth. Add sour cream and blend once more to combine. Refrigerate until ready to use.
  2. If the fish is frozen, thaw according to package directions, then pat dry. If fresh, rinse under cold water and pat dry.
  3. Mix together seasonings (chili powder, cumin, paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, oregano, salt, and pepper) in a small bowl.
  4. Preheat air fryer to 400°F for 3 minutes. Drizzle olive oil over the fish, rubbing it into each filet. Sprinkle the spice mix evenly over the fish, pressing to adhere.
  5. Lightly spray with cooking spray and add filets to the air fryer basket in a single layer. Cook for 7–10 minutes or until fish flakes easily with a fork (or registers 145°F).
  6. Remove cooked fish to a plate, break into pieces, and season with additional salt if needed.
  7. While the fish is cooking, toss coleslaw with 1/2 cup of the sauce in a bowl.
  8. Assemble tacos: Divide slaw among tortillas, add fish, a scoop of guacamole or avocado slices, and drizzle more sauce. Squeeze lime over each taco and sprinkle with cotija cheese. Enjoy promptly!
