Description

Delicious and crispy air fryer churros coated in cinnamon sugar, perfect for a sweet treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup Plain Flour (all-purpose; can substitute with almond or coconut flour)
  • 1/3 cup Unsalted Butter (plus 1 tablespoon)
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 2 tbsp Sugar
  • 1 Large Egg
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Essence
  • 1 cup Water (for boiling)
  • 1 cup Sugar (for coating)
  • 1 tbsp Cinnamon Powder
  • as needed Melted Butter (for brushing)

Instructions

  1. Boil the base ingredients: Combine water, 1/3 cup butter, salt, and 2 tbsp sugar in a pot and bring to a rolling boil over high heat.
  2. Stir in the flour: Reduce heat, add flour, and stir vigorously until a smooth dough forms and pulls away cleanly from the pan sides.
  3. Cool the dough: Transfer the dough to a mixing bowl and let it cool for about 4-5 minutes so it doesn’t cook the egg.
  4. Blend the dough: Add the egg and vanilla extract, then beat with an electric mixer until the dough is completely smooth and ready for piping.
  5. Preheat your air fryer: Set it to 375°F (190°C) and spray the basket generously with non-stick spray for easy release.
  6. Pipe or dollop: Squeeze bite-sized churro shapes into the air fryer basket, ensuring they aren’t crammed together for maximum crispiness.
  7. Air fry until golden: Lightly brush the churros with melted butter, then cook for 10-12 minutes until they’re beautifully golden brown and delightfully crisp.
  8. Prepare the coating: In a shallow bowl, mix together the 1 cup sugar and 1 tbsp cinnamon powder for that irresistible classic flavor.
  9. Coat the churros: Immediately toss the hot churro bites in the cinnamon sugar mixture, using a little extra melted butter or spray to help it adhere perfectly.
  10. Serve warm: Enjoy these delectable bites right away, perhaps with your favorite dipping sauce for an extra special treat!

Notes

  • Churros are best enjoyed fresh and warm.
  • Feel free to experiment with different flavorings in the dough, such as orange zest for a citrus twist.
