Description

Delicious homemade donuts that are easy to make and taste amazing!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup warm milk (110°F)
  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 6 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • Vegetable oil, for frying
  • 1 cup granulated sugar (for coating)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and 1 tablespoon of sugar. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Whisk in the remaining sugar, eggs, melted butter, and salt.
  3. Gradually mix in the flour until a soft dough forms. Knead for about 5 minutes until smooth.
  4. Cover and let rise in a warm spot until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
  5. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to 1/2 inch thick and cut out donut shapes.
  6. Place cut donuts on a floured tray, cover, and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  7. Heat oil in a deep fryer or pot to 350°F (175°C). Fry donuts for about 1–2 minutes per side until golden brown.
  8. Remove and drain on paper towels, then roll warm donuts in granulated sugar to coat.

Notes

  • Ensure the yeast is active by checking if it foams when mixed with warm milk.
  • Donuts are best eaten fresh, but can be stored in an airtight container for a couple of days.
  • To achieve a lighter donut, knead the dough adequately.
