Description

A delightful holiday treat combining semi-sweet and white chocolate, topped with crushed candy canes for a festive touch!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 ounces semi-sweet chocolate, finely chopped
  • 12 ounces white chocolate, finely chopped
  • 1/4 to 1/2 tsp peppermint extract, more or less to taste
  • 12 mini candy canes, crushed

Instructions

  1. Line a large cookie sheet with aluminum foil.
  2. Unwrap your candy canes and add to a Ziploc bag. Smash them with a rolling pin to crush them up.
  3. Finely chop your chocolates.
  4. For Stovetop Melting: Use a double boiler or set a heatproof bowl over a pot with about an inch of simmering water, ensuring the bowl does not touch the water. Keep heat on low and add chocolate to the bowl, stirring frequently until melted. Repeat for both types of chocolate.
  5. For Microwave Melting: In a heat-safe bowl, microwave the chocolate in 15-20 second intervals for white chocolate and 25-30 seconds for semi-sweet, stirring between each interval until melted.
  6. Stir peppermint extract into each bowl of chocolate and taste, adding more if desired.
  7. Reserve some semi-sweet chocolate for drizzling on top, if desired. Pour melted semi-sweet chocolate onto the prepared baking sheet and spread into an even layer.
  8. Pour melted white chocolate on top and spread it over the semi-sweet chocolate. Use a butter knife or toothpick to create swirls.
  9. Add remaining melted chocolate in small spots for an extra look and sprinkle crushed candy canes on top.
  10. Let it set at room temperature or refrigerate until completely hardened.
  11. Break into small pieces once set and store in an airtight container in the fridge with layers of wax paper between.
